Print: Baxter CL 138 – Being a complete uncut strip from ‘The Greek Dance and the Harem Set’ which was issued as two separate strips of 5 needle box prints that were meant to be cut into individual prints and used on the lids of small boxes containing sewing needles.

 

Baxter named these as (1) "Jealousy" or "Love and Jealousy"; (2) "The Wreath Dance" or "The Bridal Wreath";  (3) "The Greek Dance" or "The Dance";  (4) "The Guitar";  (5) "The Playful Child" or "The Infant,"

 

The two sets of five were printed from a plate and twelve colour blocks. Each strip was originally sold at 9d. a strip.

State: On white cord showing small border then on modern blue card

 

Condition: Excellent colours, minor light toning to sky.
