Print: Le Blond Baxter 147 Originally issued by Baxter and numbered CL 327.

Courtney Lewis stated that this was “the Piedmont valley….a typical scene of the beautiful Val D'Aosta, the most extensive valley of the Western Alps, and which, being overshadowed by the four great peaks of Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, and the Gran Paradise….”

This isn’t actually a ‘typical’ scene but actually an accurate image of the buildings at Verres or Verrex is fifteen miles N.N.-W. of Aosta and shows Collegiate Church of Sant'Egidio - Saint-Gilles. Unless I mistaken, looking at the direction of the image, that must be Mont Blanc in the background
