Print: Le Blond Baxter– LB 169 – originally published by Baxter as CL 344 in 1850. The Circassians had been at war with the Russians for best part of the 1800’s which culminated in the Russo-Circassian War of 1864. So when Le Blond re-published this in 1868 you would have thought this would have still been a topical print but LB just titled it ‘The Girl at the Bath’. Circassian women were famed for the beauty. The lack of Baxter signature is enough to confirm this is a Le Blond printing.
