Print: Le Blond Baxter – LB 148. Originally printed by Baxter as CL 267 in 1852. Le Blond purchased about 66 of Baxter’s steel plates and colour blocks after Baxter’s death. This print was included and was printed circa 1868. You can tell the difference between the Baxter and Le Blond printings due to the fact that Le Blond Baxters have no colour to lips etc, a deeper colour to the Jug and they added red lines in between some of the Flagstones.

It is one of Baxter's best known prints On the original engraved steel plate is the title and "Designed by F. J. Baynes, Engraved, Printed & Published by G. Baxter, Patentee, 11 & 12, Northampton Square, June 18th, 1852 (Entered at Stationers' Hall),"

The designer, F J Baynes, is documented as being on Baxter's staff and was an artist who unfortunately was addicted to alcohol. Going home one night in anger he smashed up the household effects, the only thing to escape destruction being a chair.  Next morning the unfortunate parent noticed his little child standing at this chair having breakfast - no table being available.  The youngster looked up and said "So nice, daddy."  The father, in repentant mood, sketched the scene and took it to Baxter, and this print is the result.
