The 1860 Baxter retirement auction Catalogue describes it as, “an unmistakable portrait of favourite "Tom," who sleeps whilst the mice - or are they rats - run about”. “Stating "it is drawn from life."
The print was produced from an engraved steel plate and four zinc colour blocks, and was originally sold at 1s. 6d.

State: Over mounted in reverse painted black and gilt ‘Verre Eglomise’ glass very popular in the early 1900’s. In Original black gesso covered frame with original backing
Condition: The print is excellent, the frame has many chips but these have all been touched in but I feel this adds to the feel of the item. Original backing boards, nails and paper (torn)
