Print: Baxter - CL 224 – This print shows the famous French leader who was finally beaten at The Battle of Waterloo in 1815 and died in 1821.
He stands in front of a tricolour, which has on it a large "N." The "Invalides," which became his last resting-place in 1840, is seen on the right.
The print was produced from twelve blocks, and was originally sold at 1s.
Always a popular print but hard to find a genuine copy, many were faked using photography during the early 1900’s. These are commonly seen and as they have a fake Baxter seal under the print usually advertised as genuine copies, please see our pages on https://www.georgebaxter.com/fakes-and-forgeries - Obviously, as you are buying from GeorgeBaxter.com, I guarantee this is a genuine copy
