Print: Baxter CL 88 – Printed exclusively for the book ‘Vah-ta-ah, the Feejeean Princess.’ By the Rev Waterhouse

 

Under the print is the title, and "From a Miniature by J. D. MacDonald, of H.M.S. Herald.  Printed in Oil Colours by Baxter, Inventor & Patentee, London." 

 

The book was published in 1857 some years after Baxter’s other missionary prints. It is said “she was a cruel, vicious cannibal.  She was civilized later and baptized as Lydia, and died November 25th, 1855.”
