Print: Print: Baxter - CL 238 - This print is taken from Rubens' picture at Antwerp, though Baxter does not give the name of any artist, but in the 1860 Auction Catalogue it is stated: "The copy of the famous original was in the late Lord Northwick's gallery." 

In January, 1854, is an advertisement which says there will be published immediately "The Ascension, a companion picture to The Descent from the Cross."  It was originally sold at 3s and was produced from a steel plate and twelve blocks.
