Print: Baxter - CL 332 – Used on the covers of music ‘Jullien's Album for 1852’ and also issued separately by Baxter. Hard to find a very good copy as most copies seen are faded or more generally Le Blond Baxter versions whose colours always seem more subdued.
Baxter’s 1860 auction catalogue describes the print as: "A chaste and beautiful representation of a meeting of young lovers after a quarrel. Scene, the garden of a nobleman's mansion; costume, of the XVII century."
Stated as ‘after Watteau’ It was originally sold at 3s.
