Print: Unknown printer from Baxter’s original steel plate. This is an impression taken from Baxter’s original steel plate a number of years after his death and then hand coloured. It has all Baxter’s lettering but not his excellent colouring, the colouring roughly added by hand. This was most probably printed and coloured with the intention of passing them off as genuine Baxter prints and is something I illustrate in my ‘fakes’ section of the website but it is still an interesting piece of Baxter history

Date: 1890’s – 1920’s

Approx. size (cm ht x w): 10.3 x 13.9

State: On full sheet as printed from Baxter’s steel plate some 30-40 years after his death and then hand coloured, most probably trying to pass this off as a genuine Baxter

Condition: Some foxing around the sheet edges. The image also has some dark spotting, this is pitting of the steel plate which by then was quite old and most probably slightly rusty and damaged
