Print: Baxter - CL 16 - Scene on the Mountain Top AND CL 17  Air Bird being the frontispiece and title page to Robert Mudie’s “The Air”

 

This and the vignette on the title-page were among the specimens lodged with the specification on the patent on April 23, 1836. 

 

On the frontispiece under the print is the title and below that "Baxter's Oil Colour Printing, 3, Charter House Square. (From original paintings by W. Fowler)".  "The summits of the Andes in South America and those of the Himalayan Mountains in Asia have terrible tales of the winter storms to tell, in consequence of their vast elevation." - Mudie.

State: On double book page as issued, folded down the centre where it had been inserted in the book, very nicely presented in double window cream over mount

 

Condition: Excellent colours, the odd spot and age staining to page edges
