1401 Prince Frederick Wm. of Prussia – Stamped Mount

Print: Baxter - CL 215 Prince Frederick Wm. of Prussia married the then Princess Royal, Princess Victoria, Victoria’s eldest daughter in 1858 at St James’s. She became the Princess of Prussia but her husband didn’t ascend to the Throne until 1888, unfortunately his death meant he was only Emperor for just over three months. One of the harder of Baxter portraits to find either possibly because it wasn’t a popular subject at the time or, more likely because it was published so near Baxter’s retirement in 1860. Le Blond Baxter’s of The Princess Royal are more common than Baxter’s version but Le Blond did not reprint from this plate
