Print: Baxter CL 168 - Sold separately on a stamped mount, as in this example, and also in Baxter’s book ‘Baxter's Gems of the Great Exhibition’ published in 1854.  
 
It shows part of the Russian Department, the statues are the "Greek Slave," by the American sculptor, Hiram Powers, in the centre; on the left is "Rinaldi and Armida"; and on the right is the work of Mary Thorneycroft, called "Alfred the Great receiving from his mother the book of Saxon poetry." 
 
The print was produced from a plate and ten blocks, and was originally sold at 3s.

Condition: Pristine colours, light crease to top of mount following the gold border so only noticeable on left and right edges, also a vertical crease to top right corner. Light toning to mount and three corners all bumped. Excellent print on a slightly flawed mount
