Print: Baxter - CL 343 - Printed exclusively for Humboldt's book Views of Nature.
This print shows the snow-capped mountain, the highest peak of the Andes, which was first ascended to a height of 19,300 feet in 1797 by the Prussian traveller Humboldt. The print is take from a painting and is said to show Humboldt and his team in the image
In the bottom margin of the plate is engraved the title and on the right is "Baxter's Patent Oil Colour Printing, xi, Northampton Square,".
