in 1852 and catalogued as CL 239. Titled ‘The Birth of the Saviour’ but also known as ‘The Adoration’ as it appeared on music of that title by W. H. Callcott and also ‘The Nativity’ which is how it is titled when it appears in ‘The Pictorial Expository Family Bible’
Courtney Lewis in 1924 writes “The Virgin Mother is seen kneeling in adoration, the Infant Saviour is in a wicker cot, a lamb is on the ground, around are shepherds, and there are cherubs overhead. There is no lettering on the plate and no artist's name is given.”
Produced from an engraved Steel plate and fourteen blocks, some of them zinc.
