Print: Baxter - CL 232 - There are two versions of this print, this copy has the nimbus around Christ’s head.

The 1860 Southgate and Barrett Catalogue says: "Many thousands have been sold."  It would have adorned the walls of many houses at the time. Today it is not a commonly seen print so most copies have most probably been destroyed or so badly faded from the sun over the last 170 years.

Produced from twelve blocks, of which at least six were wood.  It was originally sold at 3s.

Date: 1852

Size (cm ht x w): 20.5 x 16.5 (print) 27.2 x 22.9 (mount)

State: On the original stamped mount, unfortunately the bottom of the embossing and title has been trimmed so we are pricing this as an unmounted item. Very hard to differentiate between the Baxter and Le Blond Baxter printings, as this is obviously on the mount it can be guaranteed as 100% Baxter

Condition: The colours are excellent one of the best copies we have seen, spotting to mount

The Saviour blessing the bread (with Nimbus)
