Print: Le Blond Baxter – Originally published by Baxter as CL 243 in 1855
When on his stamped mounts Baxter called this print “The Crucifixion, executed by the Baxterotype process.” This process was specifically designed to combat the up and coming Daguerreotype or early photograph. Baxter also produced a smaller version of this print which Le Blond also re-published hence why this is generally known as The Large Crucifixion.
Date: Circa 1868
Size (cm ht x w): 35.5 x 31.5 (image)
State: Unmounted include good borders
Condition: Colouring is excellent, two small tears to the right hand border about 2cm long but now repaired and barely noticeable. There is a light white dotted line across the centre of the print, this would have been there from the printing process and most probably shows where the one and only colour used on this print had possible slightly split, please see images. Priced accordingly
