Print: Unknown printer from Baxter’s steel plate - CL 159
An impression taken direct from Baxter’s steel engraved plate, this could have been taken by Baxter himself but we can’t prove that. Mockler took impressions from the plate in 1896 but the paper he used was a lot thicker and a completely different texture. Around that time some impressions where also taken by Mocklers printers Drake Driver & Leaver. We have seen images on similar paper printed in green ink.
The latest date this impression could have realistically been taken is this 1896 date but we feel it could predate that. When in monochrome you can really see all the intricate detail in the print, interesting item.
