Print: Baxter CL 234 – Used extensively on music covers "Holy Family Sacred Melodies" and issued separately by Baxter, it sold in large numbers but so many of the copies you see are actually produced by his son George Baxter Jr, they are very inferior and it has been written that these inferior prints are actually fathers productions but the plate was now wearing. I do not believe this and our research is ongoing.
Signed on left centre on the floor, "Printed in Oil Colours by G. Baxter, Patentee," (even on the sons printings). Even Courtney Lewis stated in the 1920’s that a really good print is rare.
Baxter attended by command at Buckingham Palace in 1850 to show the print to the Prince Consort.
