Print: Originally published by Baxter in 1852 and catalogued as CL 292
This is a reprint from Baxter’s plates by Frederick Mockler in 1894 for inclusion in his Portfolio. Full details can be read on this https://www.georgebaxter.com/articles/frederick-mockler-and-the-mockler-portfolio-of-baxter-prints
When Courtney Lewis wrote about this in 1924 he described the event as “probably the most elaborate funeral in our history”
Baxter says it was "Sketched from No. 1 St. Paul's by the Patentee." and shows the funeral procession arriving at St Paul Cathedral
It is a very detailed print even showing the Duke’s boots reversed in the stirrups of his horse, Copenhagen. Being a pull straight from Baxter plate those details can be more easily seen than in a fully coloured print.
These full sheets are large and will be posted in a tube for protection. Full sheets are hard to find, hopefully the purchaser will not trim the sheet but…
