Australia. News from Home shows early settlers in the Australian outback in their hut, one of them is reading an account of the Great Exhibition. Taken from a painted by H. S. Melville, and published January 31, 1853


News from Australia. A companion to No. 195 and shows a family reading a letter from Australia in which was enclosed a £100 note. It was published 16 months later than the first print on May 10th, 1854. Although the original painting by Melville showed early settlers both were most probably published by Baxter on the back of the topical gold rush of 1853.
