So Tired (1032)

Print: Le Blond Baxter No 157. Originally issued by Baxter as CL 271 in 1853. The print is said to be a portrait of the then Princess Royal who was born in 1840. There is no proof of this but as Baxter says it was “Designed by Winterhalter”, the then royal painter, this is quite likely. Although we have studied the difference between Baxter and Le Blond Baxter printings for many years this print is incredibly hard to tell apart. A good Le Blond can’t be easily distinguished from a Baxter. We were all but ready to say Baxter but we noted that the print is a few mm shorter than it could be, possibly someone has trimmed the Le Blond signature from the print which is very common OR it could be just as easily be a genuine Baxter that has been cut a little shorter. To be on the safe side we are describing this as a Le Blond Baxter. Always a popular print and the one that started us collecting 30 odd years ago
